News from the Grade Sixes and Sevens –
Greetings from our busy classroom! We are already hard at work and thinking about all the comments that our teacher has written in our Term 1 Reports, giving us suggestions on how we can improve in ou8r academics and also where we are doing well! Most of us are pleased with our reports. Masi, Sunshine, Ntsika and Vanisa were our top students, so congratulations to them.
Our Cedar pupils are so happy that their house won last term, even although they didn’t win the Gala.
We enjoyed a day trip to Grahamstown last week and attended 3 workshops.
“Invader Alert” was about the exotic plants in our area and we were surprised that although these plants are beautiful, they don’t belong in South Africa. Learning their names was useful so now we can identify them and prevent them from threatening our own indigenous species, wherever possible.
It was interesting to work in groups with another local school.
John Kaiser is really an expert on “Plastics and Pollution”. We were shocked to see how polluted and messy some of our beaches are and fascinated to hear how plastic is actually made and which plastics are biodegradable. We hated the fact that plastics are so harmful to animals, birds and fish and thank goodness many people are out there to protect our environment from harm.
And then of course, the Laser Show! It was nearly like a rock concert and we saw awesome images and joined in singing the rock songs and even did a Mexican wave or two! The Auditorium was packed with students from many different schools around our country and it was such fun!
Our Sport is great and we are playing hockey and Rugby matches this week against D.S. G., St. Andrews and Clarendon. Let’s hope we win and have fun at the same time! Good Luck guys!
Guess what? We are getting a new classroom and the building is nearly complete. We can’t wait to be in our new learning environment and trust us, the view is awesome as well!
Happy greetings and wishes from all us Seniors at Yellowwoods – our Outing to Bushpig Adventure Camp is around the corner, but for the moment we are busy enjoying school and working (and playing) hard! Hamba Kakuhle!
